Attendance Policy
Attendance Policy: Pi Chapter
Purpose
The following rules are established to provide the chapter with guidelines for conduct and procedures in the area of absenteeism from Chapter meetings and functions.
Rules
I. All Brothers are required to faithfully attend all chapter meetings and activities.
II. A Brother can be excused with cause from a chapter function only with good reason.
Excuses may include the following:
A. Sickness
B. Family Emergency
C. A test during the function
D. Other valid professional activities outside of Delta Sigma Pi.
[These circumstances are not absolute or exhaustive. All excuses are subject to the discretion of the Executive Committee. If a Brother is going to be absent without cause, the brother must contact the Secretary twenty-four hours prior to the event. Certain excuses may require supplemental documentation.]
III. EVENTS classified as MANDATORY:
[Brothers must attend ALL of these functions. Excuse from ONLY ONE of the following functions will be granted at the discretion of the Executive Committee, given that the excuse is submitted to the Secretary PRIOR to the event in which a Brother will be absent.]
A. RECRUITMENT
i. Meet the Chapter
ii. Professional Speaker
iii. Recruitment Events (Social)
[The following mandatory events and requirements are ones in which no absence will be permissible, without the approval of the Executive Committee. Unexcused absences will result in a trial and or fine.]
B. INDUCTION
C. BID DAY
D. INITIATION
E. COMMUNITY SERVICE (2 HOURS)
F. FUNDRAISING ($40)
Attendance Policy Point System (required points)
Total points required: 330
- Attend 10 chapter meetings (10 pts./meeting)
- Attend 2 after-chapter pledge dinners (5 pts./dinner)
- Attend 3 recruitment events (15 pts./event)
- Attend Bid Day, Induction, and Initiation (40 pts./each)
- Attend all 4 professional events (10 pts./each)
- Pay Dues ON TIME (5 pts./each checkpoint or 15 points given if all dues are paid up front)
Elective points
1. Attend more than 10 chapters (10 pts./additional chapter)
2. Attend a social (3 pts./social)
3. Attend Formal/semi-formal (5 pts.)
4. Attend more than 2 pledge dinners (1pt./dinner)
5. Raise $75 or more in fundraising (5 pts)
6. Complete community service events past the first two mandatory hours (5 pts./event up to 25 pts total)
*If you do not meet the required amount of points you will not be permitted to attend the pledge social at the end of the semester!
